Mom, i haul it every day back and forth to work and it big, wide, fat and fast so maybe i need the abbreviated version of a SUV cause it will be littler

I think many of you are looking at this the wrong way, dont get offended that your bronco is listed as a SUV like those 4 cylinder plastic glorified station wagons on oversized rims and undersized tires that will only see mud if they park close to a puddle and I'm driving by with my bronc. Get offended that those glorified cars with little man syndrome are being refered to as SUV's.I think the big bronc was the epitomy of the SUV. even look at some of the new trucks, that avalanche, if you took that crawling through a rocky trail you'd leave a wake of bingo chips with all that plastic and flares and skirts gimme a break. what good is a 4x4 that you cant take 4x4ing?
Yea, Thanks for sending us a cool front DW Now we can spend time outside.............without the state bird flying from tail to mouth............gnat's you know
Bunch of chickens tonight - no debate on SUV, TRUCK, NOTHING!!!!!
I'M going to bed - Think i hear my chevy blazer and dodge rusting out there
Well, I did find through research that 'SUV' is a realitively new word that was coined by General Motors (figures) as a marketing tool. And, the Bronco was considered a MPV (multi passenger vehicle, from inception till the end of production) and says so on the data plate and visor sticker in my TRUCK. Anyway, whatever you call it besides SUV is just fine with me.
From the '90 model Bronco on (may be off on the year) there was a steel rollover bar included on the trucks. You really can't see it, but the shoulder strap belts are bolted to them.

uuuhhhhhhhhhh????? i badly confused but wouldn't most all vehicles be MPV (muliti pasenger vehicles) since they carry more than the driver? LMAO! DW
The vehicle classification known by the federal gov't. as SUV (more commonly Sport Utility Vehicle) was adopted several years ago when the imports began flowing into this country and these silly little cars with tall stances and heavy suspension began showing up at the port and trying to get in under the passenger car classification. Uncle Sam didn't like the idea that these things that had so much in common with trucks yet bodies that left them in the car classification. So, In his infinite wisdom, Uncle Sam decided to creat an official classification for these "car/trucks" that were to date getting into the country with only passenger car tarriffs being paid on them. Hence the classification known today as SUV which bears a higher import tax than passenger cars. In the end it boils down to the simple fact that the importers had found a way (temporarily) around the higher truck taxes. Due to the popularity of these things everybody began making what the feds. classify an SUV. The Ford Bronco was the FIRST vehicle to be MARKETED as a "utility vehicle" NOT Sport Utility Vehicle but "utility vehicle" and that dates back to the vehicle's inception in 1966.

Was the Bronco first, or was it the International Harvester Scout (AKA "cornbinder")? Maybe it was the original Land Rover, Toyota Landcruiser, Nissan Patrol, one of the enclosed Jeep models, or even, oh no!, the 1936 Suburban.
