Wiring harnesses
Is there anything wrong with aftermarket harnesses?
The oem cost has my eyes rolling.
I agree with the injector harness, as many issues lie in that harness considering it is asked to sit atop a hot engine and contort with many bends. Unless it is damaged and you have had issues in the past, remove it and re-wrap it.....but if you really want one, I bought this during my build...nothing but OEM for stuff like that IMO
As for the stock harness to the engine, remove it from all sensors (if you're in that far) and inspect it. Buy a few rolls of 3M electric tape and re-wrap it. The only ends that go bad are the ICP, IPR, turbo solenoid and alternator......the rest is fine unless ofcourse it has been tampered with or damaged.
Save that 800.00 and buy something you NEED.....like a 1911

Good luck

I have the oasis on this one and the original owner was in the dealership a lot.
I deduced he was a hot shot hauler based on his travels. 7 injectors, 2 egrs, 2 turbos, head gaskets, etc., etc.
He must have been pushing hard but was religious on his oil changes, etc. At one point in reading I began to think the techs were just throwing parts at it but it was all the usual 6.0 issues you read about.
This came to me in non rusted shape (that's a big deal) but has 210K on it.
This is my last truck. Based on the many hands in there and the fact I do not wish to do this again I am attempting to avoid any weird and age related issues.
Hot shoting is not going to get you into the common turbo issue of rusting, and the next would be bearings from not so great oil. Turbos make 200+k easily if not rusted from sitting. 7 injectors in 200k is dirty fuel or oil. 2 egrs maybe OK, but if you meant 2 EGR COOLERS along with the head gaskets, then we have coolant maintenance issue. Religious maintainance gets you a long life from the assembly line, Bismic is our example.
Anyway, if all that was addressed then your OK as long as you are up on maintenance, unless there’s one or two injectors hurting.
Just giving a different viewpoint, not arm wrestling.
I’d go for the harness, I did one when the motor was out.

and the A/ compressor all the rest are easy to get at. The points that tend to be
issues are easy to get at without removing the harness. The location near the oil filter
is one of the prime spots for oil and fuel damage to the insulation. The other worry
spot is over by the air filter do to misrouting and chaffing or crushing of the harness.
The last point for problems can be the fan connector if it got pulled loose, But that
tends to damage the clutch cable side more than anything else.
If you are worried about the harness and feel like doing a little reinforcement get your
hands on some harness tape (not the black electrical tape) and remove the wrapping and
check the wires and if they are nice and not softened by oils rewrap them. In the places
where they can come in contact or be crushed by things get some plastic split loom and
add that on to the harness as you rebuild it with the new tape. Use electrical contact spray
cleaner to remove any oil and gunk before you reassemble things.
The new injector harness has one change that will require you to swap a manifold
bolt and stud. Seems to take some stress off the assembly.
Also if you in this far clean the grounds on the frame and fender walls. There is a critical
ground on the inner fender wall over by the ABS pump. G101 if I recall correctly. Lots
of the engine bay modules need that one to work correctly. So clean that ground well.

Looking around at harness tape. Seems quite a variety. Anyone got any recommendations?
