Surface rust removal

Last weekend I got under my new to me 2014 F150 SCrew and pressure washed it.There is a lot of surface rust on the bottom of the bed that I'd like to get rid of before I spray it with Fluid Film. II went to the Eastwood website and found rust remover gel that sounded promising. I called their tech line to get a recommendation and was told I should use the Eastwood Fast Etch Rust Remover instead. I ordered some of both that night. I called them again the next at to inquire about the Rubberized Rust Encapsulator. I explained again what I was trying to do and the tech told me I shouldn't be using either of the rust removers because they would damage the paint! I told her I would call customer service when I got home and got the order number so I could cancel the order. When I got home I went back to their website to see if the description of either one said anything about damaging paint. The description of the Rust Removal Gel said it would not harm sound paint. I called the tech support again and got the same woman I had talked to earlier. I told her the description said the gel wouldn't harm sound paint but she said that was an error on the website! I called customer service and hopefully got the whole order cancelled. I'm waiting for them to call me back to let me know if it got cancelled. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out now. They had about an hour to cancel the order before they closed but I never heard from them. Anyone else have an issue with Eastwood? Anyway, does anyone have a way to remove the rust? I've heard vinegar works so might try some of that tomorrow. I'll also try some Evaporust soaked into a paper towel and held in place with plastic wrap and magnets.

I think I would just go ahead a spray with the Fluidfilm or whatever you want to use. It’s going to halt any further rusting as good as any other method to remove the rust. Unless of course, you want to remove the body so you can get at everything.
