Hello; Can anyone give me an idea as to what would be the best rust preventative spray on? My truck is an 85 with quite a bit of rust but I want to try and prevent it from getting much worse. I don't have a lot of cash this year. Has anyone used aerosol "Rust Check"? or that new on Pro-15? I would like to spray the underside too.
The Por15 types are a thick paint that cures with moisture and work very well for frames and under the truck. Por15 is about $100/gal, but I've seen some simular products at Home Depot for about $38/gal.
These are not rust converters, they cover over the rust and prevent any further rusting by preventing moisture from getting to it.
The rust converters work too, you have to do a bit more prep for a good job. the surface needs to be very clean either way. The prep is most of the work.
You can also use something like Prep & Primer found and home depot, the paint with any good paint after that.
I've heard that ZeroRust is another good option too.
