probably a stupid question but, there are so many 250/350 at dealerships with 3.73 non lock and locking that are set up the way I want except for the gearing. What would it cost to get the gears changed out to 4.30? Has anyone looked into this?
I did, and almost did it to my first 6.2 which was a 2016. I settled for an off the lot truck w/3.73's. Coming from 20 years of diesel I soon found myself somewhat disappointed in the trucks performance. My dealership wanted $2800 for the swap and that's as far as I looked. I decided to put that $2800 towards a 2017 ordered just the way I wanted, w/4.30's of course. I can't say it enough, about how much of an improvement the gears are to the 6.2. The 3.73 work very well for the 6.7 but under performed in the 6.2 in my opinion and experience.
If you feel compelled to have the 4:30 rear gears, I'd just bite the bullet and order the truck you want with the options you want and be done with it
I am negotiating a new truck and worked a deal for dealer to swap 4.30's for me for the same price I would have paid for getting a truck on east coast with 4.30 shipped to me - $1400. The current Rebates on 17 should cover added cost difference over custom order on a 18 with 4.30's.
I looked into it and even went as far as calling FMC. If your under warranty and change them they will not be covered even if its done at a Ford dealer with ford parts. That means that anything in the drive line breaks they will not cover it because it did not come from the factory that way very dumb. I have a 2015 with 3:73 gears and waiting for my 2017 to come in. There are a lot of them out there but all seemed to have some options I wanted and some that were missing so ordered it. I think its coming into the dealer today it shows in transit with a date now 10/11/17.

I am so thankful for your post above. After reading it, I had my dealer verify it as well. Granted, the dealer would warranty their work and doubtful the gear change would cause any real warranty denials, but not worth the risk to me on new truck.
