Yukon Gears/Differential

Anyone here have opinion on Yukon Gear and Axle products. I am working toward changing out the rear end in my 2006 2wheel drive from a 3.55 gear to a 4.10. Yukon is what my local 4x4 shop uses as a general rule. Owner says that he has used them for years and rarely has he had a problem. Your opinions.
Thanks

My off road shop also uses Yukon Gears for every axle they regear.

I have them in two of my trucks, and haven't had any problems with them.

They have a very good reputation, and it's for good reason.

Good luck!

MBB,

Man me and you need to get a life. I have been on here asking a lot of questions in the past week or so and you are right there helping me out on every thread I start it seems. You have been a big help. That is good to hear on the Yukon Gears. I think I am going to bite the bullet and have this gear change done real soon. I think you were one of the guys that replied to my 3.73 vs. 4.10 gear thread and you said I would feel a big difference going from a 3.55 to the 4.10.

As a side note, I went to my local dealer 1st today to have them quote me a price. They about had to pick me up out of the floor. Parts and labor approximately $1300 for a gear change in a two wheel drive. can you believe that crap. So I leave and go to a very reputable 4x4 shop, the same one suggesting the Yukon Gears, the same one who does diiferential, and axle work for racers and rock climbers and he quotes me $650, half the price of the stealership. Obviously, his price makes it a lot easier to swallow not to mention that his quality of work will probably be twice as good as the yahoos at the dealership.

One other quick question, While there today I was assuming I had an 8.8 axle, he goes out to look at my truck and I actually have the 9.75. I have to assume this is a good thing for a truck. Would that be a good assumption.

Still can not figure out the 3.55 gear in our big, heavy trucks though.

Thanks again for all your help!

No problem.... I just like these trucks, and big off road trucks, so I get caught up on here trying to get as much info on them as I can, while helping others on the way.

That's about what my off road shop charges, I can't believe the stealership wants that much !

I bet the install will be twice as good and faster than the deal could do, and at half the price, who can beat that.

The 4.10 gears will make a big difference in your trucks acceleration with stock tires, but when you put the 33s, it be like haveing 3.73s..... still better than 3.55s and 33s(which would be an affective gear ratio of about 3.25 which would be real ).

Yep I knew the 3.55 gear was going to go down around 3.20 or so and that is when I started my research. I figure if I am going to make the change it would be rediculous to only go to the 3.73 and then add tires that would take it right back down again. We are thinking alike. Thanks Again for your replies over the past week or two. They were helpful.
