My friend from Seattle is here visiting so I took him on a junkyard crawl. I found 2 jailbar tonner pickups. I can't remember what was good or not. We looked at 100s of vintage cars and trucks. I do remember one had a good hubcap.
I know the owner, usually kind of a cranky, sometimes just an a hole. I have to go back sometime, found a couple things his wife wouldn't price.

I stopped by Jim's on my way back from your place to Rapid City. You were nice to say he is a little cranky, the a hole moniker fits him much better. I couldn't get into the yard even after dropping your name. Did you **** him off on Monday? Haha! Thanks for spending some time showing me your projects and one of a kind WB creations. Really enjoyed visiting with you. Hope to see you again soon. Thank you!
A hole Jim also said he plans to liquidate everything by this time next year. If anyone might want to visit this place, I am not sure there is any amount of kindness that will get you in. Maybe wave lots of $100 bills or take WB with you....or both!!!
I bet it'll be crushed. Over my years of doing yard tours there have been several well known yards that I attempted to visit only to find them gone. A few vacant fields, a road project taking one in AZ, a lost land lease, and a relocated yard with only new inventory saved. The old owners die and the kids don't care. It's sad. Stu
I recently read a post in which the writer described today's cars as an appliance. Not unlike a washing machine or a refrigerator. They work well for years, then you throw them out and get a new one. Going to the wrecking yard for parts (I still love to) will soon become a thing of the past like taking your shoes or toaster in for parts and repair. Sad indeed.
When I was a little kid it didn't occur to me that a junkyard could go away. They'd just always be there, you know. Didn't know Antique stores went through inventory like any other business. I just figured they had a bunch of old stuff they were trying to sell.
