power steering
i have a 65' and my power steering is real loud and the fluid is full.well its time to replace odviously,so my question is could i swap any pumps from a newer vehicle?say 70'-80's f-100's or 150's.anything will help thanks,Sean.....

I would change the fluid first! All of it! Then bleed the system by raising the wheels off the ground and with engine idling slowly turn the steering wheel left to right about a half dozen times, check fluid level and repeat. This may solve the problem: if not be sure you locate the cause of the noise. I'd hate to replace a pump only to discover the gear was the culprit! Look for a loose or broken bracket or bent line. Pumps fit from several years but you may need a matching bracket. If the pump is failing, replace it with the same pump. This way everything will fit.
