The original factory A/C compressor on my '74 F250 with a 460 had seized up. But the replacement compressor's clutch wheel turned out to be about half an inch too forward of the rest of the pulleys. I ordered a dealer installed clutch wheel and it was half and inch too short of alignment of the pulleys. Finally I ordered a clutch wheel with an inertia ring like the original had but was back to too forward. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I'm out of ideas.
Had the same problem with my 460 swap. Get a clutch for a 460 for a 75 and earlier without the inertia ring and factory ac . Seems they didn't have them on truck applications until the 77-79 maybe. There are at least 3 variations of belt sheave depth on these things on a ford alone in the 73-79 era.
I had a similar problem when I searched for one for my '76 F-250, 460, factory air. The one I need may be the Four Seasons 47811 (new) or 48811 (reman.) It looks like:

Pay attention to the "mount distance". It is the offset of the pulley groove.
I never found out if it was the right clutch. I reused the old one. But it sure looks like the one that's on there.
