I know it can be done. I had a badly damaged ic on my van. Ford wanted over $600 to get and program a new one. I picked up a salvaged one with way more miles then mine and had a place set the mileage on the new one to what was on the old one. Works perfectly.
By the way the same metal oxide varistor is used the same way in either or maybe both the tachometer and the RABS module.
I read somewhere they use the same type power supply.
Bringing this thread back from the dead.
Not to long after this I swapped back to my OG cluster as I couldn't stand looking at 300K on the clock and put the lightning cluster in a box with my other spares I had and on the shelf it went.
Since I work on the road and never home long enough I forgot all about it.
Since work has been slow I have been home more than I ever have since 2015 and decided to start selling my stash for the extra money.
Sold all but one of my clusters and my lightning cluster and decided to tackle this once and for all. I started to look into reprogramming the eeprom but didn't get any further than last time, and started to price the equipment to do it, some of it is not priced terrible high, but it racks up there and I don't know for sure what else I may need besides a burner.
So I did a web search for odometer correction and lucky me there are folks one hour away from me that do that type of work.
So called them up and scheduled a drop off time, and a few days later dropped it off on a Friday, got a call today around 11am telling me they had it done.
I did have to plug in the lightning cluster because they needed to know how many miles were on it, but I just want to let everybody know about these folks and if your needing odometer correction done I would highly recommend them.

Lightning Old mileage. OG truck cluster mileage.
Original mileage spot on.
Those ****ing needles are supposed to be YELLOW? Holy. (when not lit)
thats funny. would have just guessed white based on mine LOL
Subford, all you need is a base set of eeprom data, edit it by hand, and write it back to the chip. Nothing magic. Could just as well use the data you posted as a base to edit for any mileage.
Eddiec1564, I didn't figure out the entire encoding scheme, but I got pretty close. Close enough to write any value I want within a few K miles.
If I can get a nod from an admin, I'll post the info. I don't see the harm considering the age of this PSOM, but I don't want to post it if it's going to be a concern.
I have pulled eeprom data from psom and it looks different . It is in a 1997 ford f250 .
I've been working with the PSOM and eeprom for a few days now. I upgraded my 88's mechanical speedo with the 92ish one from junkyard, but wanted the mileage to match the mechanical one. So I did, right down to the tenths. So my question is, can I post my findings here? Perhaps a moderator/admin can chime in on this. The info will allow anyone who can program an eeprom to put any mileage they want on this PSOM. Post or no post?
I'd love for you to post it or at least PM me, I put a '92 PSOM in my '91 F-250 to asccomodate the new transmission with no speedo cable engravement in output shaft so sending what you found would be much appreciated.
