Alright. So in another thread I am working on getting everything around for a radiator replacement and front end refresh. I was watching some videos on Coolant cavitation on the 6.4. Saw some crazy erosion cause by air, still hard to believe. I am wondering is this something that has been an issue for a long time on a certain truck that causes it to wear through? Is this something that would show up after 5K?, 10K?, 50K? Or is there no set way it happens? Each truck is different?
I know my truck has a small radiator leak. Just don't want to be causing more issues while I am getting parts around.
I have black connectors. I don't see any white residue/ leaks around them. These will be replaced with more of a mishmoto style hose when I do everything. Just probably be a couple more weeks.
Cav issues are dynamic. Some have them, some don't. In my pee size brain I am considering the lack of equal and adequate antifreeze/coolant to maintain the proper lubrication for the pump.
I'm thinking that if you do the rad and system the way your laying it out, rest easy.
Hefner never changed his pump on a what if..........why would we.
Do your upgrades and be watchful. After you tackle those, and put on some miles, you'll notice a lot of things and hopefully they are good.
Only way to eliminate problems is to resolve them as you are.
After I did what your doing, wow, what a difference. Also, I don't hawk the gauges like I used to because I feel very comfortable. Makes the effort enjoyable.
Cavitation could be cussed by air...so ditto on all coolant and cap preventive measures
but don't ignor both grit that seems to be left behind by the manufacturing process that we know exists because we capture them in out coolant filters.
as well as rust dust
and granules that form by the additives in the coolant dropping out of suspension.
All of which we we have captured in out coolant filters.

There was a recall the replaced the hoses as mitigation to cavitation, the replacements have the white couplers and dual seals. You might want to talk to a dealership.

But being out of warranty am I not way out of the time frame to get warranty work done? I mean my truck was out of warranty at least 4 years ago.
So being that there was a recall I might be able to get them replaced still?
Like Copper said you'll want to talk to the dealer...though I'd be surprised if they'd help you out. Ford also came out with a revised front cover as well. Note the tab in the center...it was supposed to address cavitation issues as well.
