Hey guys I have lost my keys for my truck the ignition and door locks. I just thought I'd ask if anyone has an extra set of keys for sale. I have to switch my ignition switch the the later model blade switch and pigtail
The ignition lock cylinder fits in the ignition switch but is sold separate. Are you going to buy a new fresh ignition lock cylinder also? If so it will come with the keys to fit it. From there re-key your door locks to fit that key. Either G**gle, You Tube, or call a local locksmith.

I was going to buy the key set but wanted to see if anyone has OEM keys and lock cylinder. My keys were the original ones that came with it. That's why I asked. But yeah ill buy some new manufactured ones if I can't find any originals. New ignition lock cylinder, housing, pigtail. And door keys
Before you do any of that, see if you can find a locksmith that has been around for awhile. My neighbor down the road has been cracking safes and picking locks for the last 3-4 decades and has a collection of everything key/lock.
He was able to grab some original blanks out of his stash and custom make me a new key all by hand. That was very interesting to watch.

The single sided key cylinders have 5 tumblers (1-2-3-4-5). The #1 tumbler is the shortest, while the #5 is the longest, the others are in between.
A knowledgeable locksmith after "reading" the tumblers can cut a new key with a file. Some Ford parts guys can also do this, I've done it more than once.
The double sided key cylinders have 10 tumblers, reading these can be a b!tch as the round headed key cylinder has the tumblers reversed (in a different position) than the square cut key cylinders.
Thankfully, I never had to cut a 10 cut key with a file, but...
When actor Lorne Greene (Bonanza) bought a new '85 Lincoln Town Car, I had to use a hand held key cutter to cut him 8 sets of 10 cut keys (16 total) as our electric duplicator key machine was broken.
He stood there and watched me do it. To distract him, I asked if he still owned his Citroen DS convertible w/a custom body by Chapron.
He asked me how I knew this. I said...I spotted you driving it on Sunset Blvd. I could have asked him if his wig had ever flown off, but...

Way back 1979 to prolly about 1982 I worked the retail parts counter at Earnhardt Ford. If someone bought a single lock from me and asked, I'd re-key it for them. As long as 3 out of the 5 tumbler cylinders are reading the key it's legal. I started out keying at least 3. More if I could. Saved up both halves of the tumblers together. Got to where I could re-set all 5 cylinders.

Yeah mine was a double sided key and door lock key I'll ask my local bobs lock and cycle see if he has any.
A local dealer here would scratch the key codes in the firewall by the hinge/brake master cylinder area. If a customer needed a key they would pop the hood, look up the code and cut them a key.

I have a set.......but the key is so used that is almost flat. It works 100% of the time on the doors but 50% of the time on the ignition. That 50% is usually when i parked my work truck in, or when my son has the truck out late at night.......sstill want the set?
