What are normal temps after driving. Not towing, not spirited, just normal driving?
Got home today and smelled hot brakes. Got out my HF thermometer and the fronts were 250* and 265* the backs were around 170* or so. Is this normal? I had a set of power stop z36s in the garage and I put those on the front tonight and the temps are about the same and smell. The truck does not pull to either side when stopping. Am I just paranoid?
Depend so how hard you were using them. A single stop event can easily send them to 250*
800* under very hard use and probably junk and faded at 1000*. Powerstop doesn't list a heat range for that pad, maybe give their customer service Dept and ask.
that doesnt quiet sound normal for brake if you got the wheel off have someone press the brake then release it and imediatly try to turn the rotor by hand if its hard then try opening the bleeder an if the roter becomes free then id say the flex line is the culprit since you got new and better then factory calipars
I put on new power stop calipers front and rear less than 2k miles ago last year sometime. The truck is not my daily driver. I also replaced the flexible lines at that time with the exception of the center back axle. At the same time I put on slotted and cross drilled rotors that came with a set of pads. Those are the front pads I replaced. The power stop did not get in on time for the original brake job.
