Truck pulls right when braking! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys I am at a loss here as to why my truck is doing this. Every time I brake the truck pulls to the right. It doesn't start to pull until I have braked to a stop 3 or 4 times. I am having trouble diagnosising the problem. So far I have replaced the brake pads (Brake Masters), brake calipers (Brake Masters), brake line and brake hoses. The only things I have not replaced are the two front rotors. For further info I have had the stocks rotors turned (10000 miles ago). But they have 81000 miles on them! The truck also has a slow to drift to the right. This didn't happen until I took my truck to Brake Masters for the caliper and pad warranty. I wonder if they didn't screw something up.
Could one of the rotors be glazed?
Could the pads Brake Masters has put on be crappy made and are liquifying due to heat?
Any ideas as to what might be wrong?
I'm about to pull my hair out!!!!! AAAHHHHHHH!

Brakes arent my specialty, so there are probably other possibilities, but I'd say your brakes may not have been bleed properly when you had the work done, i.e. there may still be air in one of your front brake lines. Thats a thought....

I think the drift to the right is an alignment problem . Have it checked . Also dont underestimate tire inflation , even a difference of 5 Psi from one tire to the other will make a difference . Also have a look at the rear brakes , they contribute to the overall braking of the vehicle & if they arent functioning properly you will have drift & pull problems when braking .

You might try checking the wheel bearings for correct torque, check pads to ensure that some sort of adhesive was used on the back of the pads, i.e. anti-sqeal, etc. My '77 pulled to the left after two or three stops. Seems the pads were rubbing on the rotor and heating it up even though I could not hear it.

Hello. The wheel bearing torque might be the problem. A freind of mine had an old ford maverick that was doing the same thing. I torqued the bearings to the right specs and the problem was fixed. also your alignment sounds off with the drifting.

Well guys I figured out what the problem was. This last weekend I installed new rotors on the front end. After inspecting the old rotors not only were they 1/10 of a millimeter under minimum thickness specs but they were glazed all to hell. Putting on new rotors and new pads and my truck stops on a dime now. Woo hoo!

i had the same problem with my 1980 f-150. i had to replace the ball joints to fix a pulling problem in the steering ( they were binding ) and the braking problem went away.

Yes, I was amazed at how much braking improvement I gained by buying brand new rotors. Mine used to pull slightly to one side and pulsate. Now, it glides to a quick stop.
