I've been doing a ton of research on my own on what kind of tuners/chips are available for EEC IV computers. There are good options for the chip itself but every source I've tried does not support my specific PCM calibration.
My PCM. BTW it's a 1991 5.0 EFI RWD California emission truck.
The only one that supposedly can do something to help is this dude called Decipha at EFIDynoTuning. He wants over $600 to custom create a tune for my PCM via a 'remote connection'.
I am not trying to actually "tune" my truck, I am interested in the datalogging capabilites of units like the Quarterhorse so I can see sensor values and such. But everyone is saying "we don't have the .bin file for that calibration." Thoughts?
Ask them what calibrations they have the .bin file for, then see if you can't find a PCM with the same calibration. I'm no expert on EFI PCMs, but this seems like the easiest route to me. The only limiting factor I can think of is that there might be a compatibility issue between a PCM of one calibration, versus another.
In general the only PCMs that have had Bin files(memory maps) developed for them are the performance oriented PCMs.. mostly Mustangs, the Gen1 Lightning and MAF trucks, so in most cases a MAF conversion is necessary to gain this functionality.
But I seem to remember another product that would plug into the J3 port of any EEC4 PCM and produce a data stream, it won't allow any "tuning" it's just a monitor but can't remember anything else about it at the moment.

I have the E40D 2WD. Just to clarify for the other guys I still have my PCM. And I talked to Mike from TWEECER and he said if I sent him a PCM with this calibration then he could create the .bin file. His 'RT' chip actually has datalogging ability but the damn thing's $450 ...
