Okay guys I'm still learning all this termonology and what these different components do. So looking on the DP site today what the heck is the PCM Flash and what does it do? I've seen guys on here talking about it and mentioning Jody.
Can someone explain to me how this whole thing works? I see for (stock) it's $45. What does this do? And I notice another DP-Tuner F-6 Tuner. What does that one do?
not sure where exactly the term "flash" came from, but it generally means to reprogram/alter or modify the PROM and or look-up table in a computer.
Jody/DP tunes will modify the look up table to do many different things that ford thought the average driver didn't want or need. Some of these things are increased efficiency, better HP, better mileage, a "smoke", and valet position. He also seems to have the best reputation for doing the above.
He also does "custom" tunes for customers, either because the ford map is too general, or the customer wants even more exotic fuel and boost values.
I am fairly certain the F6 is 6 different possibilities of engine tune.
That is the limit of my knowledge, I'm a bone stock type of driver.

It is my understanding that the F5 (older model) must be sent in to Jody anytime you want a new tune added/changed.
The F6 (newer model) can actually be done by you, Jody just emails you the tune. Less down time for you and your truck.
send your PCM into Jody.for $75 he will flash one of his tunes onto it..the down fall is what ever tune he flashes onto it is the only tune your truck will have...you can not go back to stock unless you have a spare PCM to swap out...
i know a guy that has the 80E flashed onto his PCM and another PCM with the 40 tow on it...he runs the 80E in the summer.and the tow when he pulls his camper...he has a spare stock PCM for the winter and for diagnosing problems..he seems to be happy...
