Getting ready for an FICM Tune and see something about a roll back. Is this a reprogram for the ECM , and not the FICM?
If I use an SCT Tuner with Custom tunes, will a Roll Back have any benefit for me?
If you have custom tunes you'll need to call the programmer to see if the hex key has changed when you do a rollback. The rollback is to an older base-program for the PCM, they're theoretically better based on the earlier Ford flashes before the new 2007 CAFE standards ramped up towards the end of the 6.0L run. Necessary, probably not. Can cause problems with custom tunes, YES and you need to call whoever wrote them first. Better? Maybe, depending on your current PCM flash and what you're doing with the truck.
FICM and PCM tuning can run a 75% overlap in lower power levels, so if you have a custom PCM tune from a good tune writer, you're probably already covered. I really like my Atlas 40+rollback from PHP, but if I was already running a PCM tune from a decent tuner I wouldn't expect the results if I were coming from a bone-stock latest Ford flashed truck.
