Need help identifying this power rack

I bought a 1956 F100 that was supposed to have an MII ifs. After i got it home i realized it's something different. Anybody recognize this steering rack? Assuming i can post the picture, not sure.

It appears to be a Saginaw rack. Sorry don't know the application. Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks for the info.

Hey thanks for the info I'll take any help at this point. It does have a fancy "S" cast into it. As you can probably see in the picture i have a power steering leak and need to get new hoses but not sure how to do that until i can figure what the rack is from. I plan to post some pictures of the suspension hoping somebody will recognize the upper control arms.

The S cast in to it confirms it is a Saginaw rack.

The number cast in to it may help identify it.

The mounting is similar to the Corvette...bolt on driver's side and clamp on the other.

Great tip thanks

Thanks for pointing me to Saginaw for the rack. Once you pointed me in the right direction I was able confirm it also. That's one piece of the puzzle solved. Now I just need to identify the ctossmember and suspension, and calipers and I should be all set for a while. It's starting to look like a GM set up of some sort. Since I'm a Ford guy i may end up cutting it out anyway and put a Mustang ifs in. But if I can get the leaks stopped I can at least play for a while.

That would be interesting if it was a corvette ifs, I never even considered that one. Time to investigate, thanks.

Does this UCA look like it could be from a Corvette?

It's not a vette rack . The vette's had the bolt mounting inboard of the Pinion shaft. This is out board like the Caddilacs.

Maybe the steering linkage will give it away

I don't recall seeing a steering linkage made up of 2 pieces held together by a clamp. Let me know if you can't open the file. Thanks Matthewq4b. By the way the casting numbers appear to either 817555 or possibly 1817555, kind of hard to tell what is rust and what is the number.

What does the back side of the lower arm look like ? At first glance it looks to be full size Ford front suspension.

What it looks like to me is a stock Ford Mustang II front end with some sort of GM R&P that was added. Upper and lower a-arms definitely look to be FOMOCO parts...crossmember may or may not be stock Ford.
