Degas bottle split

Hey guys in recent months I’ve gone through two brand new ford oem degas bottles. Both have come apart at the seam on the engine block side of the bottle causing a leak :-/

I replaced the original bottle simply because it was stained and as I was going to flush and add elc I wanted a clean one.

Anyone ever heard of this in the 7.3? I’ve come across a few threads relating to the 6.0 bottle but not on the 7.3.

Thoughts??

Thanks

Jason

Many have with all manufacturers of bottles. Your best bet is to get a Dorman from a local parts supply and return it if it cracks and keep going back until you get one that does not leak.

I replaced my 228K mile OEM bottle because it looked like death and I like a nice, clean and well maintained truck. I was lucky and bought one from RiffRaff and it has been good since.

This is very, very common. As a matter of fact, the last thread about this was about 2 weeks ago and can probably be found on page 3 or so.

Thanks will search for it now. Probably just gonna put the original back on and let the filter do it’s job.

I purchased a OEM one from Clay, less than 3 months later it was leaking. Clay warranted it no issues. BEFORE I installed the new bottle, I plastic welded the entire seam. If you look closely you can actually see where the machine fails to properly weld or seal the seams. Using a $20 plastic welding kit, I was able to "fix" the imperfections from the factory.

I'm wondering if its a cap issue than the bottle. If not relieving like it should, something has to give.

I read somewhere that the Dorman caps are off by a mm or 2 creating sealing issues. But like I stated earlier if you inspect the bottle you can literally see the issue where the 2 seams don't get pressed and heated properly.
