2005 Cluster Bezel

Hey guys,

So I finally decided to swap out the radio that came with my ex (already aftermarket) and install a new Android head unit. Double din, with satellite radio, backup camera, retain steering-wheel controls, etc.

So I took my time, purchased the right harnesses, and decided how everything would fit together. I laid out my harnesses and soldered and heat-shrinked all of the connections. Then, once i had everything ready, I went and removed the current stereo.

And thats when i saw it. That little divider between the radio and the AC controls is broken. I dont know what was done to it, but as long as I wasnt touching it, it was fine. Once I slid out the old unit, i could see how bad it is. The right side of it isnt even connected to anything, it's completely disconnected from the right side of the openings. This means the radio is not sitting right in the opening, since the part on the right is solid and the part on the right is not. This means the mechanical door that slides out from the bottom doesnt have clearance based on how the radio is sitting.

So, I need a new one.

I looked on ebay. Saw a TON of 2000-2004 pieces, but no 2005s.

Where do we find these for our ex's?

05+ pickups are different. You’ll have to check junkyards or paint an 04 one black. 05 excursions are a ******* to get dash parts for. I looked for a long time when a car wash blower destroyed my old 05 excursions dash. Good luck.

I went through the same thing with mine. I'm in the middle of painting an older dash to match. I think there's something to do with the black color.

Yep, my 05 black gauge bezel must be made out of powdered plastic. At least the black JB weld quick set stuff is a very close match for those hard to see areas. I used fiberglass on the backside near the AC ducts. It is the most brittle piece on this entire truck.

Sad

I've seen a bunch of 2000-2004 on ebay, and was under the impression that they would not fit from reading elsewhere. Is this the case?

And if I can grab from another superduty, which years? Just the 2005? Just looking to be able to widen my search parameters a bit...

You you painting it yourself or having it done? If having it done, what's that sort of thing cost?

If you do grab one from a super duty, make sure you get the headlight switch. It is different in that it is square where our Ex switches are oval. They also, obviously, don't say "EXCURSION" next to the power point door.

I've noticed that a lot of the superdutys i see have 3 round cut-outs for the climate controls. I have the digital climate controls, which would not work with those. I'll keep looking, though.

Yeah, let me know. I bought myself a 650 lower dash in grey, and I was thinking about painting it pebble to match my dash, but I havent been brave enough to try it yet. Let me know how your black turns out.

FWIW, the 3 dial manual controls are in the same size unit as the digital climate control. The bezels interchange.

All excursions and 99-'04 superduty dashes will "fit". Only the '05 Excursion dash is black.
The '05+ Superduty dash is different and won't fit, without more modifications, which involves cutting and extending wires and duct work. There is a thread which shows the work.

Thank you. I've been attempting to piece together that info from many threads and google searches. It helps
