2013 2.0l ecoboost sudden loss of power
Has anyone suddenly gone from boost to no boost at all.
I was towing my 3000Lb travel trailer on I35 in Austin Texas when I started up a fly over going onto I45 (this is a fairly steep climb) the engine suddenly dropped in power and instead of having a strong V6 I had a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder and dropped from 55 to 40 mph instantly. I did notice the temp gauge shot up from normal to 3/4 hot instantly as well, as soon as we topped out the temp gauge dropped back to normal and the boost came back. I have never had the temp gauge go up before but it did it twice on this trip both on hills. but the first time it did not lose power. The temp was 98 degrees out. It set no codes but it did scare my wife into saying get the F150 for towing, she still wants her Escape though.
Also does the 2.0 L have the same issue with moisture in the CAC that the 3.5l ecoboosts have?

I suspect it was the temperature as well causing the ECU to cut the power. I checked the coolant level when we stopped and the engine had cooled down, I found it low.
I had just had the oil changed and they claim to check the coolant. when I asked them about it they said they check it but won't add anything, I told the dealer then they should at least let the customer know. I filled it back up and have been monitoring it closely I haven't lost any since and the temp has never climbed again.
I suspect the temp gauge is not really a temp gauge but a 4 position switch cold, normal, 3/4 and Hot. This because of the way the gauge acted. You don't see the gauge take swings up and down like my gauges do on my older cars. I am going to get a gauge that plugs into the OBDII port.
