I have a 2000 F550 with a bad fuel injector. I've been looking online and it appears there are different imjectors. (AA, AB, AD, AE). How do I know what my truck takes? I spoke with the parts store and he said they had two different ones and it sounded like cylinders 1-7 took one type and cylinder 8 took the other one. Is that right?
Also, if anyone has some instructions, tips or tricks that would be helpful it would be greatly appreciated. Any special tools I need?
Doesn't sound right that it would take 7 of one injector and one of another. I would believe a left and right as the 6.7 engine requires. Was this parts person at a Ford dealer or parts house person?
Generally, Ford part numbers, the letters and maybe numbers at the end of a part number usually indicate the revision level of the part. An AB would supersede the AA and an AD would supersede any previous revision level.

That sounds totally and absolutely ridiculous! Except it isn't. Explanation here:
So...I need 7 of one type and 1 of the AE injectors for the #8 cylinder? Is that right and how do I determine what I need for the 1-7 cylinders of a 2002 7.3L?

The truck normally seems to run "ok" but doesn't seem to have an abundance of power like my other ones did. It seems to be much worse when it runs down the road for a while. Then it really loses power and runs very rough. If I shut it off for awhile it'll usually run ok and then will start acting up again eventually. Sometimes at idle I can hear a "knocking" from the engine. A mechanic told me that it was probably a bad injector making the noise. It's gotten so bad at times that I can barely get up to 20 mph. I can shut it down for awhile and it's back to normal until the next time.
Does that sound like the characteristics of a bad injector?
