Serviced tranny found this

Can anyone tell me what this is from, found it at the bottom of the tranny pan 04 350 6.0

Another one. A few years ago I believe someone else showed that broken clip from another trans service. If I'm not mistaken it was Pete who correctly identified it as the torsion spring from the parking pawl.

I thought that looked familiar as I also remember. I think I posted a pic of it's location. That was awhile ago.

part 991-4 at the bottom right of the picture below.

Recently having my transmission apart, I can confirm that's exactly what that is.

I found one laying in bottom of my pan also when i pulled the pan.

That depends on how important park is to you. Does park still work? Do you always set the parking brake before getting out of the truck?

Can it be repaired/replaced from underneath via removing the pan? or does the transmission need to come out and be disassembled?
