MY ABS light came on and I tried pulling the codes but my OBDII plug isnt working. I noticed an extra wire to the right side of the OBD plug, is this normal? Or is it the reason I cant pull the codes?
Sticker on it's says it's for power take off or something. I know there's another wire that looks similar under there around same area that's labeled customer access and is a 10amp switched feed.
you might check your fuses. For some reason my memory thinks the obd port is on the same fuse as one of the front power ports...
The 'extra wire" is completely normal. Read the factory tag.

Cigar lighter plug.
It's pretty common for folks to plug accessories in and blow the fuse. This will keep any scan tool that requires vehicle-provided power from working, it just won't power up.
Why wont they work? I just have a very basic code reader that I've had for over 10 years now.
Because basic OBDII readers are not equipped with the extra circuitry and capability to read ABS systems. While the OBDII diagnostic port includes the connections to the ABS module, that module (and others) reside on a different communications bus with a different physical and electrical bus which are on different pins in the connector.
You will need to check your device's specifications and see if it actually has the needed functionality or not.
