The jacka$$ previous owners of my Ex had messed around with the electrical wires and I have no power to the OBDII plug. I checked the #3 fuse and it was ok. I also checked the #1-#5 fuses and all ok. I had purchased a Scangauge II and it won't come on. It works on my other vehicles.
The previous owner had cut some wire to feed power to an RF modulator for the TV screen. When I bought it, there was no power to the cigarette lighter whether the truck was running or not. I do have a constant 12V to the power port near the passenger side.
My question is:
Is the cigarette plug (not the power port) constant or is it switched to the ignition?
Can someone show me a wiring diagram of the OBDII plug that will show me which wire is the 12V+ so I can splice it to a known 12V source?
I just recently had this truck smog checked and it passed with flying colors. Thank goodness they didn't need the 12V power for their equipment.
If he sliced the wires at the OBII and ran the 12v power to the RF modulator why can't you just undo what they did? Unless he pulled wire from back of the plug can't you just match up the color coded wires? On the issue with the cigarette lighter I had the same problem. The issue wiith mine was the metal pieces that hold the male plug in were bent so not making full contact. If you moved the plug around I could get power. Unsure if this is the same problem your having with yours.
Thank you for the replies. I found the problem. For my V10, the power to the OBDII is fuse #12 (looked it up on the online owner's manual). I read on this forum somewhere and someone mentioned #3 fuse. Maybe that was for the diesel?
Anyway, found the broken fuse, replaced it, and now it's working.
I realize now that I am the jacka$$ for not referring to the owner's manual.
