4R100 interchange question

Hey guys, Looking for some help from any tranny experts out there on the 4r100.
I have a 2001 6.8L 2wd excursion. According to Ford and the id plate it has the 4r100 trans. It has started to go out , so I am looking for another unit.
I found a 2004 E350 6.8L 2wd that says it has the same 4r100 but Im trying to verify if it is the same and will it fit the Excursion? If it helps anyone the id tag on the E350 trans is 4c2p-fa... ...Any help is great. Thanks

They are the same transmission. It will bolt right in and work fine.

Thanks for the information. I had heard that maybe tail shaft was different, the bolt holes for starter could be 2 or 3 and that the crossmember could mount different because of wheel base?

There is only one inch difference in wheelbase between an Excursion and an E-Series. The transmissions are identical.

I have got one 4x4 version sitting in my shop ready to install from the 04 cummins conversion.

I'm more or less just north of Dallas Tx. As you saw my "X" is 6.8L gas 2wd.

To use a 4x4 trans in a 4x2 truck you have to totally disassemble the trans, install a 4x2 output shaft, then rebuild the transmission.
