Bellhousing question
Have a 59 F100 with a 74 360. I had an np435 in there, and am looking to put a toploader in. I have a line on a couple, and want a tranny with four usable gears. My question is whether the 360 bellhousing will fit the toploader? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it will-most likely- however the early '65 and older tranny's had a different non-rectangular bolt pattern that won't jive with the 360 trans pattern. It was 5 7/16 x7 5/16 x6 5/16 x7 5/16 pattern, the later trans used a 8 1/2 x 6 3/8 rectangular like your 360 bellhousing. You also need to watch for the proper input shaft length, the small block top loader used a longer input shaft which would need to be shortened to work behind your FE. I had to shorten my T10 input to use behind my 390(later 428).
The trans bolt pattern can also be adapted if you have an understanding machinist to center the trans in the register and then mark, drill and tap the holes for bolts.
