Does anyone know how many bulbs there are total behind the instrument panel? Including blinkers, dummy lights, and instrument back lighting. I'll be adding a tach to my cluster and I need to replace a few bulbs as well. So I'm thinking I'll just switch everything over to LED while I'll have the instrument cluster out anyway.

Can't add a tachometer, you need a complete instrument cluster with one. Follow this grouping by year: 92-93, 94-95, 96-97. For example, if your truck is a 93, only 92 and 93 clusters are plug and play.

Thank you! I guess I used the wrong terminology. I am putting in a tach instrument cluster and will be putting my speedo into it so I maintain correct mileage. Going to replace backlights while I have the cluster out.
The bulbs insert into little black sockets that twist into the back of the cluster. Turn them counterclockwise about a 1/4 turn then pull the socket out.
I have a 93, what does it take to get to the bulbs? I have a few out myself.
Remove the bezel around the instrument cluster. The two horizontal trim pieces pop out, and there are torx screws behind them. The rest of the dash bezel pops off. Disconnect the fuel tank switch, and 4x4 switch if you have them. Unscrew the black (I think, there should be gold ones too that hold the cluster together) torx screws, then pull the cluster out. It's a tight fit out of the dash. You should be able to replace bulbs without disconnecting the wiring harnesses.

i didnt do all the lights like that in mine, i did all the illum. Lights in LED. I will say, if you are doung any colors (red, blue, anything but green) take the clear cover off of your gauges and a q tip with nail polish remover. Rub very lightly and then quickly clean it off. I had a papertowel and a q tip soaked in water. Otherwise it eats into the plastic. You do it right all will be bright n clear. Dont use cheap ebay leds. They suck. I have them in mine and i always have 1 out. As for numbers, get roughly 20. If you pull your climatr control panel you can do those too. 3 i think in that. All 194 bulbs.

Thanks! I will be doing the climate control panel too. Ultimately, I’ll switch all interior lights to LED.
