replacing the ac compressor only?

my system works great, will get down to 38-40, compressor sounds fine but is leaking behind the clutch area, getting freon all over, tomorrow im putting a new motorcraft compressor on, my question is since everything is working and no noises, will i be fine just doing the compressor? ive heard alot of talk about accumulator, orifice tube, condensor replacement but mostly just from posts where the compressor grenaded. thx

You should replace the accumulator/drier any time the system is opened up. Be sure to pull a vacuum on it, to remove the air from the system, before adding the freon.

i replaced the manifold line off the compressor last week, had it vacuumed down, filled, and works great since, but didnt know the compressor is also leaking, so its already been open and still cools great, ive never messed with ac so its a can o worms type of thing
