Recently picked up a 96 f250, manual trans, 4407 transfer case (manual shift) to haul some off-road toys. The low range light comes on in 4 wheel, and when shifted into low the 4x4 light comes on.
previous owner did a little hacking here and there i had to fix but havent pinned down this one. Any quick ideas of where to look?
Will do on the washer. I have plenty of sizes of aluminim drain / fill plug washers. Some reason i was thinking there was just an O-ring so ill see what it does.
am i right to assume the two wires to the switch, one is for each lamp?

The washer is more like a calibrated shim. I think it's a continuity switch one for H and one for 4Low.

Ok well ill try some different thickness washers i have. And see if any straighten it out. Not really a big deal but sometimes the simple things drive me nuts.
So before i get too in depth here, i found a plug farther up the harness that had a glob of silicone, and it turns out someone had the two switch wires reversed. Un-pinned them and fixed it right, now 4x4 is on in 4 hi and 4x4 and low range lights on in low.
i recently rebuilt the transfer case and somehow overlooked that hacked up plug.
Either way thanks for the pointers.
