Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and would like your guys help.
Back in May I bought a 67 f250 camper special. It has a 352 with a cruise-o-matic. When I bought it the previous owner said the transmission would need to be rebuilt sometime, I think that sometime has finally come. When you first start it up it takes forever to shift then once in a while it will come out of gear while stopped. I'm debating if I want to get it rebuilt or put a manual in it. Eventually I want a manual in it but I don't know if I should do it now or not. Do you guys know what manual would be relatively easy to hook up to the 352 and where the best place to get a transmission is? Also if you guys have any tips or tricks that would be helpful too, any advice helps. Thank you
Do some calling in your local area to see how much it would cost for a rebuild. Or check online. Some of the other guys will chime in about changing over to a manual tranny, My 69 CS has a C6 and I wouldn't change it to a manual.
A fair bit of work to go from an automatic to a manual. You'll need pedal assembly, bell housing, flywheel, z-bar assembly, likely a different driveshaft, some modification to the hump in the floor if using a top load 4 speed. I believe the 352 will use the same bell housing as any other FE block. As for cost I figure rebuilding the C6 will be a lot less expensive than converting to a manual. Good luck on your project. Maybe get the C6 repaired then start collecting parts for the manual. when you have everything and do the swap you can sell the C6 to recoup some of the cost.
