First oil change mileage on 6.7
1st oil change at 1500 miles on the odometer with Dino oil to get wear metals out.
2nd oil change at 5000 miles on odometer.
3rd and all other changes at 5000 mile intervals on odometer.
I know it's overkill but I enjoy doing my own oil changes. It gives me a chance to "connect" with my truck.
I have a 2018 F450, I changed oil at 2000 / 4000 / 6500 / last week at 9500. Guess what, this week is the trucks 1 year manufacture date.
Guess what, this week the "IDIOT LITE" came on, right after i changed oil. "Smart oil monitor"?????? I oil sampled every service, the first change, i cringed, high levels of all the metals; iron /chrome/.... high silicon!! [which is what they call dirt]. Every subsequent service, all the harmful items in the oil sample report went way lower. I see guys on here 10,000 mile on a new truck, original oil, with all that mexican, silicon, assembly dirt, still in their engines, high initial break in metals still in the engine, and the IDIOT LITE, still not telling you to change the oil till the one year anniversary date?????? IDIOT LITE!!!!!!!

NORMAL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
Your vehicle is equipped with an Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor (IOLM) that determines when you should change your engine oil based on how your vehicle is used. By considering several important factors in its calculations, the IOLM helps ensure that your engine can perform at its best while also helping you avoid unnecessary oil changes.
With the help of the IOLM, you don’t have to remember to change your oil on a preset mileage-based schedule. Your vehicle will let you know when it’s time for an oil change by displaying a message in the information display.
The following table provides examples of vehicle use and how each scenario can affect oil change intervals. In practice, actual oil change intervals will depend on several different factors, but severe usage will generally require more frequent changes. Also, if it’s been more than a year since your last oil change, the IOLM will display a reminder message regardless of your mileage.
When to expect the OIL CHANGE REQUIRED message

I guess I'm old school... I plan on keeping this truck for awhile and will be changing the oil every 5,000 miles. Based on what I see here and guys are telling me, I could go 7,500 easy but it just doesn't feel right. Part of me says its a waste of money and use the oil life monitor but I can't seem to let myself do it. I won't even do it with my wife's Acura. I change it every 5,000 miles and the oil life is always right at 40%.
