THanks for the detailed info. I followed ll the directtions but still seem to have an issue, hoping you could help see what I have done wrong:

I completed the simple install of the two modules.
I used FORscan to find the IPC module and change the remote start to to "enable".
Bobby from Banner pinged the truck, and gave me the PIN code.
(same day, excellent service from Banner).
I downloaded the APP.

All functions work over the cell connection - except remote start , I get an error after it connects.
I went back into the IPC with FORRscan - and remote start was still "enabled".

I just tonight noted in your pos,t, that you mentioned "...enable... & Remote Starter Parking Lamps." I did not enable the remote parking lamps - I did not know I needed to look for this . I will try to find that option in IPC tomorrow.

Otherwise can you offer any suggestions ?

1qtrflash, I am by no means any kind of expert on this, but I did find the remote start in two different places in the FORScan program. I wanted to confirm this so I went out tonight and hooked my computer up to check and ended up grabbing some pics for reference.

Under BdyCM make sure the remote start and remote starter parking lights are both enabled......

Then under IPC make sure remote start is enabled plus whatever other features are applicable to your truck if you are interested. I also enabled climate control, driver seat and passenger seat (for my seat heaters), and rear defrost. Mine is an XLT premium, I believe higher trim trucks have more options available in the remote start menu.

1qtrflash, please post back with your results after enabling the remote start and park lamps in the BdyCM module, I’m curious to see if that works for you.

thanks for your input

I will try it today and post back

I am a newb with FORscan - so the help is appreciated.
Some of the module options' actual functions are not easily understood from the titles.
The spreadsheet in the FORscan thread is a great reference tool.

(I will be sure to backup all my modules today )

I will also look into the same options you noted:
..."climate control, driver seat and passenger seat (for my seat heaters), and rear defrost."
I have the same trim level XLT premium - maybe the FORscan changes are different with trim for the remote start (on some trim levels it is already enabled in BCM ?).

Yes, I will post back the results .
Thanks for taking your time to help !

Here is another option I found. Plug and play and you rent their programmer for $50 to add the remote start settings into your instrument cluster settings. I'm sure forescan may be able to do this as well.
Just ordered this. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Does this work the same in an XL trim level 250? I read somewhere that an extra part for the hood is necessary for certain trims.

Pop your hood. Turn ignition on (don’t start engine), if it says hood ajar you’re good to go. I have a XL and mine has the hood pin.

...and yes I am bias. This company wowed me today, a Sunday, via personal text about the placement and shipment of my order plus a generous military discount. Not to mention the offer to to walk me through installation via text or phone if needed. Hard to find that these days. Bravo Zulu 12 Volt Solutions!

What is the range with the 12 Volt Solution option? (Using the factory keyless entry fob)

Also, thanks for the pointer about military discount if I go that route! How did they verify?

Both options use the factory fob. I only have a XL model. One option had the horn honking as you press the lock button three times. The other is lock , unlock, lock, no horn. The range is as far as your factory fob works. As far as the military discount goes, they asked or a picture of my ID via email. Mine was a blue ID (retired) so they honor it either way. Recommend this option based on my experience so far. I’ll update when I get it installed.

Great, thanks for the advice! Do you know if installing the antenna designed for the OEM remote start will increase the range of the factory keyless entry remote?

What I do know is that an antenna is not an available option with the item I am purchasing, and I know that my last truck had OEM remote start limited by the distance of the key fob. Currently my OEM key fob works from a reasonable distance that is acceptable for me. Your results may vary.

I was able to get to the truck tonight.
(long motorcycle ride with my girl today... )

SUCCESS

In Summary:
> In IPC - I had previously enabled the "remote starter" function
>>with this edit alone the rmote app did not function / I received error message from the app to the phone after about one min.
> In BdyCM - I tonight (based on your suggestion...) enabled "remote start" and "remote parking lamps"

The remote app worked as described in the manual: press button /button turns blue / TRUCK STARTS / button then turns green / then the countdown timer started (set to 15 min). / stop button on app shut down the engine.

Thanks for your help ctimrun !

Also please note I also enabled the seats / climate and rear defrost.
