Can you shift the transmission. Maybe if the transmission is looked up, you can try shifting it while the truck is rolled back and fourth.....maybe this will pop,it loose if the trans is locked.
If it was a standard this would be a viable option.
But being an auto there is no mechanical connection between the engine and transmission so it can not be the trans.
The torque converter may have gone for a complete dump and shredded it's self (unlikely) but rocking the truck back and forth won't free it up as there is no hydraulic pressure to lock clutch plates up (since engine is not running) to transmit the movement to the torque converter.
Here's what I would do. If you have absolutely determined that it will not rotate and the starter has not wedged itself in the flex plate (you've disconnected all belts and thus eliminated the accessories and water pump too) the 2 easiest ways to see what's happening inside the engine is by pulling the valve covers and oil pan. If a valve is broke/bent you'll be able to tell. If you spun a bearing you'll see it. From there you can determine where to go. If it's a valve, pulling the head will free it up and if it's a bearing sometimes just loosening it will free it enough to spin. Look for metal shavings or glitter in the oil you drain and in the pan.
If all seems well, we can determine where to go next. I would not suspect the transmission at this point since you stated that you had started backing out and as previously stated there is no mechanical connection between the trans and the engine when the engine is not running. The motor should also spin in any gear since it is an automatic.
You guys are the best! Pulled the starter this morning. Used a little borescope I have to check out what I can and it looked fine. Nothing wedged anywhere that I could see.
Next, pulled the valve covers. No dropped valve that I can see. Everything look ok. I hesitantly, gingerly went to put a socket on the crank pulley, and it moved while I was just sliding the socket on. !!!!!!! It turns over freely and easily, with barely any force at all. It's a MIRACLE!!!!
So...I've got the wrong starter? I bought it from Autozone. DL3131.
Pictures because, I took them and I know you all want to see how dirty my engine bay is.
If I understand your first post correctly, then you replaced the starter in an attempt to fix this issue. So this starter cannot be the cause. That is not to say that it is the correct starter, however.
I did replace the starter to fix the issue. New starter appears to be working on the second install. (Jumped from the battery and it turned over no problems.) Could I have installed it incorrectly the first time? Is that possible?
I just re-used the same bolts from the previous, nearly identical starter. Did not compare the bolts to the bolt picture on the starter. Should I have?

Thanks!
Yup probably should have checked ;-) IIRC one bolt will intersect the flywheel if too long.
