ok i have a np 203 transfor case im trying to convert to a np205 i have looked all over the internet or parts to do so but no luck the only place i could find what i needed no longer caries it
so does anybody know where i can get the rebuild kit and the 205 shaft
ok thanks i tryed to order them from "the american powertrain warehouse" but after i orderd them and waited two weeks then emailed them only to be told they dont supply them.
If I understand your question correctly (replacing a 203 with a 205), then I'd source all different components (front driveshaft, linkage, case, etc.) from a boneyard so you know they fit your truck, then open the new case up to see what it needs; parts should not be a problem.

There i so no bone yards that have any of that stuff around me and the 203 and 205 cases are the same size so im just going to put all 205 parts in my 203
Well, that piques my curiosity. These cases aren't even the same shape; I don't think that you can just gut a chain driven case and replace the components with a gear driven case - but I don't rebuild x-fer cases for a living and could be dead wrong. I would appreciate knowing if this is possible, as a rebuild is on my "to do" funding list.

I was told you could put 205 parts in a 203 and they would fit and neither a 203 or a 205 for these years were chain driven just take the 203 shaft out and replace it with a 205 shaft
But while i have my tcase that far apart in going to go ahead and rebuild the whole case
Here is a comparison (203 first). The range box case in my experience is WAY smaller on the 205.
EDIT: It dawns on me from my Jeep days that you can bolt a rear 205 to a front 203 to make some kind of "super case". It was a popular modification in the CJ circles - IF I recall correctly...
As the above diagram shows, there is no way to convert a 203 case to a 205, they're completely different transfercases. There may be a few parts that interchange as far as bearings and seals go, but that would be it. The main issue is that all 203s are chain driven, so they have no countershaft as the 205 does.
For the combination of the two transfercases, what a lot of people in the offroading world do is take the range box off the front of the 203 and use an adapter to bolt it to the front of the 205, giving a 4:1 double low range.
If your going to convert a 203 to a 205 with a auto you will need the transmission to match. The tail shafts and housings are different. I would recommend finding a parts truck for this. Going to need driveshafts, mounts, and a transmission off the top of my head. I looked into this and realized it wasn't worth it for me. The 203 can be a decent transfer case. IMHO

I should also add that the bolt pattern itself is the same for the two but with the short adaptor that you have and a 205 the CV joint on the front driveshaft would hit the transmission oil pan. Some guys have modified there pans to make this work but it's not pretty.
