Hi-Lift makes a specific attachment for securely sliding into a trailer hitch; you can also jack it on a plow push frame if you have one. You could probably also jack from under the tow hook in the front. I've used these jacks a lot when I used to own a Range Rover for off-road use; they can be squirrelly if you don't do it right...but so can any jack.

On our last trip (18K miles) with a fully loaded camper on board we has two flats on the rear and used the screw type OEM jack twice. Worked well even with the heavy load. No complaints. Bottle jacks need to be short enough to get under the axle but often times do not have a long enough stroke to install the spare tire without some shovel work which sux on hard pavement. As hokey as the 80 year old technology of the screw jack may be they work quite well, as long as a reasonable base is available, but that holds true for the hydraulic bottle jack as well. After the first flat I intended to get a bottle jack but hydraulic jacks, among other things, have a tendency to malfunction after time when stored on their side so a dedicated space would be advisable. The screw jack was surprisingly easy to crank and did the job well even with 2 tons onboard and stores neatly under the seat.

same here. keep a 2x4 and 4x4 in bed as well. 12 ton works for my trailers too, plus always have some extra dunnage for them as well.
