What jack

I have just bought a 1988 f250 xlt lariat diesel but it is without a jack. What would be the best jack to keep with me in the truck?

Many thanks.

For many years I carried a 2 1/2 ton floor jack behind the seat. Never needed it for a flat tire.

Depending on your planned uses for the truck it may be best to get the factory jack for the 'just in case' situation.

You might also consider getting a bottle jack if you don't want to go look for a factory issue one, but they don't have very long handles.

My local salvage yard wanted $35.00 but never had them in stock.
I ended up getting it off Ebay for $10.00. Make sure you get the
right one, I think the height of the jack changes for some models.

i just used a 48" Hilift bumper jack, its good for jacking, but it can also be used as a come-a-long and as a clamp too. its great for off-road use and lifted or HD trucks.

i use a 5 ton bottle jack. if you go with a stock jack, make sure you get one from a F250, or F350. the F150 jack will not go high enough to get the inflated tire back on after you get the flat off. been there ,found out the hard way.
