Towing mirrors

All,

My wife and I just picked up a travel trailer and I need to get towing mirrors for my truck. I picked the trailer up with my RC, but am currently towing it with my Excursion. I did some searching and found these adapters for the extend-a-mirror. Would these work on the 4 bolt swing a way mirrors? I don't want to get in to welding and cutting. What do you guys think? The photo is before I adjusted the hitch so now it sits way better and almost level.

Thank you.

Yes, that kit is made specifically for the swing-away mirrors. For some reason, I thought no one was making them anymore.

Thank you Madpogue. How do you go about getting those on the mirror arms? The arms are attached to the brackets, so you can't slide them on.

I haven't used these myself (tempted now to get a set...), but from the pics I've seen, the kit is complete. The plastic block attaches to the "7" shaped bracket, the flat bar attaches to the block, and the mirror head attaches to the bar.

I may get a set and see how well they work out. I think this will be the best way to go without drilling or welding.

Thank you.

Here is an update on the RV Shop mirror brackets:

I installed them, but have yet to tow the TT with them, but will update this when I do. I will admit I was very skeptical about how I was going to get them on, because it didn't mention ANYTHING about the brackets being in 2 pieces. I figured worst case scenario I could cut them in half and bolt them back together.

So the brackets are in 2 pieces held together by 2 allen head screws. I'm curious how well the plastic will hold up in the long term, but we'll see, and the screws seem to hold pretty well. The install was pretty straightforward and only took a few minutes to complete. I'm a little worried about how much the mirror may shake while going down the road, but we will see about that too.

I am including some photos of the brackets on the truck so you can see how they look. Hopefully this may help someone down the road looking to do something with their mirrors.

Thx for the update. Yeah, I was likewise mystified about the install. It took about 2-3 re-reads of the instructions to figure out that the block is split. I'd be interested to know if there's any/excess vibration while going down the road.

They hold up well with no vibration (shake) down the road. Over time from opening - closing the doors you will see some vibration starting and just tightening the screws a bit eliminates that. On my 97 they had them on at least since 1997 when I purchased the truck, not the prettiest things around but really .. really functionally.

Thank you for your input Jim. I took the truck for a ride today and am pretty pleased. They really don't vibrate all that much, although I did have to do a lot of adjusting on them.
