Thanks for the link and post. The testing was different all right, it seemed to be a lot more accurate testing that TFLtruck. The manufactures numbers seem to be validated by results of the 1 ton challenge. I did scratch my head with fuel economy results.
Interesting test. The obstacle course is the one that has the most driver error potential so that one it not 100% valid. Still a cool test and something to think about though. What I want to know is how the hell the chevy used so much less fuel? Also how did the ford make more hp and less torque than the chevy when advertised it's the other way around?
I had a hard time choosing between an F250 and a ram 2500. This and the obnoxious 'RAM' on the back made the choice easier. But the same can be said for the platinum badge on my tailgate. But I'm happy with the Ford.
Makes me feel a better on my decision to stay with Ford when I got my new truck. I certainly didn't get a truck this size for it's good MPG. I needed pulling power and torque and it certainly has that!!!
My Dad, brother and myself deal in farm equipment, so we tow quite a bit.
i have a 17 platinum f250 CCSB, my dad has a 17 CCSB 250Denali, and we have a CCLW 3500 Denali, all 4x4
i have spent a significant amount of time in all 3
i can 100% tell you the duramaxa get better MPGs
The duramax is built to haul 22,000lbs , Ford and Dodge are built to haul 30,000 plus. Could have something to do with it. I did see in a test by TFLtruck the Dodge got the best mileage towing 22,000lbs.
Pretty interesting. In this case the Ford really did very well in the "muscle" department. The fuel economy is puzzling though...in all the other tests by other media companies GM has never been -that- far ahead.
It's interesting to note that for the Dyno bragging rights, the ford had the numerical advantage of a 1.15 4th gear ratio while the others had std 1:1 4th gears. I'm wondering if torque converter differences on the ford accounted for the seemingly low comparable torque output? I will say that mustang Dyno's will bust egos looking for Dyno bragging rights. Been there.... done that!
