Dodge, Chevy, and Toyota could come up with various testing that would favor their trucks vs Ford. So don't read too much into the testing Ford chose for this PR campaign.
ArtsBest, it's nice to know that they "could" so why don't they? And none of those fake tests where you see one truck playing tug of war with another, when one is in 4x4 with an LSD and the other is in 4x2 with an open diff.... that video of the Tundra where the back half of the chassis looks detached from the front half - from going over rough ground that's not good! I believe those videos only show the Ford's strengths yes, but i don't think they lie in what they do show.
I believe where the Ford would not come first is acceleration, and it would lose to Dodge in unloaded ride comfort (unloaded only). Fuel economy - i would have said Chevy 5.3, then Ford, then Dodge then Toyota.
Still, overall, the Ford is the best truck out there.
did you ever see the Toyota commercial where they had the Cargo Container suspended over a cliff?
They let it go and a Tundra took up the load and then pulled it back onto the cliff face.
well, Toyota USED to have the "Behind the Scenes" for that video on their website. Until some Ford guys noticed something funny.
Every single vehicle used to setup that shoot and even do the test run was a FORD.
It took about 2 days, and that entire video was removed...really funny though
You are right, the other guys could make videos to Showcase their strenghts, and focus the Ford weaknesses...but the only real advantage anybody else has is HP...and Dodge has a smoother ride unloaded.
Ford can and has showcased many different facets where the F-150 wins in multiple categories. They can even reference the Automotive Industry who keeps lauding the F series with awards.
That is why you only see Ford doing those videos. The only guys to do otherwise with any seriousness was Dodge...but that was last Fall when they were drumming up interest to debut the 2009 Ram
I'll give credit where it is due...but laying Brand Loyalty aside, the F-150 is a Superior product. Especially if you look at the whole package.
It is a wicked truck built to take the industry by it's horns...and IMO it has done some pretty successfully...we just need a wee bit more HP IMO
Your spot on Tylus. overall the Ford does offer the best of everything and the only draw back as you say is in the HP department which for some means nothing but when the 6.2 comes out the competition will have nothing on Ford.
This just made me think about the other day when i see a advert on TV advertiseing the Ram and the funny thing was they said they had the most HP and towing of any half ton. It was a local dealer advert but it did make me chuckle a little. Some people will believe that as well.
I do believe Ford is a superior product, all in all, but I have to critisize the new styling. What's the deal with those ugly tail-lights? Out of the new trucks, I think Dodge had the best looks. But, like I said, all things considered, Ford has the best new half ton.
