I know that the auto locking hubs on the 92-96 F150 are complete crap. I will be putting on warn's as soon as possible. My question is there are two different transfer cases as well the push botton and the stick on the floor type has any one had any major malfunction with either of thses units. Also what does everyone prefer. Thanks for the info.
If You have the option between a manual transfer case(Stick on floor) or electronic shift (button on dash) all you have to do is read the forums everyday, and you will see the problems many people are having with the electronic shift.
I have had a manual transfer case in all my 4x4's and never had any trouble at all. Some of my friends have the electonic shift and have had multiple failures!!!!!! The most reliable system is manual hubs & manual transfer case.
If you are worried about shift on the fly, it can be done with the manual system, all you have to do is lock your hubs and you can shift into 4-H at any reasonable speed . You do have to come to a complete stop to shift into 4-L.
Anyway, I Just traded in my Last truck with 175.000 miles having absolutely no trouble with the Manual hubs or transfer case.
Good Luck
