F150/2011/Harley Edition with trailer tow package. Have running lights/battery charge/ground working on the trailer. No brakes or turn signals to the trailer. All truck side lights and flashers work. Is this a PCM model problem. How do I fix it?
I don't have the 2011 manual in front of me, but for the 2010 fuse 25 feeds the power for the trailer stop/turn relay. If thatnfuse goes out it will do exactly as you describe. Check your manual for a fuse labled as above.
The relays for left and right are separate, so if one of those where out then other side would still work.
I do.
The OP doesn't have a 2010, he has a 2011 and the electrical system is different.
Um, no. See manual.
Wow ....
I realise they are different which is why I said to check the manual. I haven't worked on a 2011 so if they no longer feed the trailer relays off a common fuse then they took a major departure from their normal mode of operations.
I was telling him what language to look for in the manual and why, not directing him to the specific fuse. Your post had no information other than "check this fuse" which is only marginally helpful.
Get the chip off your shoulder. Get the correct book out first before answering detail-oriented questions next time.
I told him to check the SPECIFIC fuse that would cause his SPECIFIC issue and told him the SPECIFIC place where the fuse was located. If you call that "marginally helpful", I guess I could have driven over to wherever he lives and checked it for him. I dunno...
Yet we still don't know what F73 does or what a BJB is.
That meets my definition of marginally helpful.
To be quite frank, if your post was as helpful as you believe, I wouldn't have even posted. I'm sure your acronyms make sense to you, but they don't to everyone else and it sure as heck didn't to me.
I realize that fuses move around from year to year, which is why I qualified my answer by referencing the model year. But the basic functions largely stay the same.
These threads are an archive for everyone needing help. Complete answers help more people than "check this fuse". The "here is why" is much more important.
My chip is only for people who correct posts that don't need it. Stop doing that and we will get along famously.
To the point:
You need to look in the manual for a fuse labled "trailer stop/turn relay feed". That is very likely your issue. It may be f27 in the BJB, but don't have a 2011 manual on my phone and I have no clue what a BJB is.
