Backup camera clip at tailgate won't latch - no worky.

I frequently remove the tailgate and have to disconnect the camera at the latching connector.
I broke the latch - now I can't make the connector stay closed and the camera won't work.
Has this happened to anyone?
And is there a fix for it?

Just guessing, but there must be a pressure or contact type switch in the latch that the camera needs to be "on" to work.

Maybe something like superglue as a temporary fix? Might not last long. Sounds like the tab isn't strong enough for frequent use.

The easiest solution is probably to find the pigtail and splice a new connector on. You could try a junkyard to cut one off or try to find an OEM pigtail online.

Otherwise, you'd have to replace the camera and wiring, or the harness under the bed, depending on which side is broken.

It's possible that the connector is available, there are a couple places that sell them separately.

Here's one example: http://www.wiringproducts.com/ford-connectors-sockets

Not sure if that one's available, but...

Here is a Motorcraft/Ford Pigtail catalog. You might can find them on eBay or at some auto parts houses that carry Motorcraft. You can go to the Ford parts dept and order them. I suspect some are pricey if ordering from Ford.
