Swapping cab

I have a rolled 2006 f-250 xl 5.4 triton. The truck runs and rolls no issue just every body part is destroyed. I'm looking for a rust free cab to put on it but don't want to mess around with wiring harnesses and all that. I'm assuming you can't use a diesel cab on a gas job without extra work being put into it? Also what years would completely match up without having to use harness adapters and all of that? Thanks any help is appreciated!

From the looks of it you are going to need pretty much a complete truck to swap all of the parts over. The cabs are the same on the trucks regardless of engine type and anything from 99-07 is going to be your best bet as far as all the parts you are going to need.

Just buff it out and keep it as a beater.

Actually, a question for you.

Are you looking to swap on a cab with complete interior and electrical, or strip the entire truck down and put all the parts into better sheetmetal?

You have all of the correct electrical parts if you swap on a replacement stripped cab shell, but it will be more hours of work. The shell can come from any driveline and several different model years.

But will be best off with the same year and driveline doner if you swap on a complete cab. One never knows tiny mod can be hiding from a mid-year production change, never mind between years.

I would pass on that....Im assuming you dont own it now and are thinking of buying it.

cost of donor truck even eith a blown motor plus the costs of the project truck plus labor, parts, etc would make it a lose lose.

the project truck proballay has a title on it now that will need a sign off to become a salvage title

trucks with salvage titles are worth beans

Not necessarily, Being a 2006, The owner probably doesn't owe on it, which means he may have had it towed to his location is trying to sell it with a clean title, which is fine, but if a Donor cab is used then it'll either have to have a title with it or he'll have to pop the VIN and install it on the new cab.
Here's a cab on CL:

It would be an easier swap to buy a truck like the one in the link and just put the good engine into it.
