I own a 1993 F-150 4x4 with a 351w. I was looking to get some more power and I heard that Jet Power Chips were a good buy. The one I need costs $255. That's not bad (I'm guessing) for 20 more horsepower. I would like some feedback, though, as to is this truly worth it!! Thanx everybody!

Jet Stage I chips are WOT (wide open throttle) chips. Hypertech, Diablo, and Superchips are not and give boosts across the entire throttle range. All chips, including the Jet, require high octain fuel (91 or better).
Superchips, you'll gain 25HP and 45 ft/lb.
Diablo, you'll gain 25HP and 40 ft/lb.
We've got Superchips and Diablo in our online store for $230.
As to whether its worth it, I'm biased so I can't answer that question. I suggest you check out the chip forum on this board and ask the users. Most have been pleased with the results.

I put a Superchip in my 95 Ranger 4.0 automatic. Before the chip it ran 16.3 in the quarter, after the chip it ran 16.3 in the quarter. Trap speeds were within 0.2 MPH, 81 something IIRC. Only difference was it used premium gas. As a result I'm not an advocate of piggyback chips. On the other hand, I had a custom chip burned for my modofied 5.0 Mustang which solved all the drivability problems as well as adding some HP. I am an advocate of getting a real chip burned by someone who knows what they're doing.
There's a lot of people with 4.6 mod motors over on the F-150 online board who have timeslips to prove the Superchip does work on those motors, so it may just depend on which engine, calibration code and chip you combine.
If I were you, before the chip, Id do some other mods. You very well might have a performance filter, but maybe not. If not you could just get a K&N filter element, and itll give around 4 HP. If you ahve the money, a K&N FIPK will give you 15-20 hp. Also, throw on a performance exhaust system. You could get at least 15 more from it. If you are on a budget, that is what i would do, not the chip. Id save the chip for after some other mods like these first two. Hope this helps.
I'm not sold on them. The reason I purchased one in 1994, was to get better mileage, and a bit better power. I did get a bit better mileage, but was hardly worth it because it required 91 octane fuel.
I'm sure that they have improved since 7 years ago.
They advance the ignition timing on the engine. Without premium you'll get pinging with advanced timing. In the past people would advance the timing on the distributor and then run premium to give themselves extra power.

No they don't, at least not the way and as good as they say they do, one of the other replies to this message says "25 hp and 40lbs tq." I call BS! because i didn't just read the ad, i bought one, and saw no noticeable difference, but imagine you take that 250 dollars and buy a cam, which i garrantee will increase performance or maybe something less intrucive such as headers or maybe even nos! all of which will deliver what they promise. otherwise if you just have to play with the computer spend the extra cash and buy the reprograming computer for Fords, it cost money! and serious money, but you will be able to retune and fine tune the computer for any "Race Conditions" and you will know 20 times more about your vehicle. and you can make up the lost cash by charging all your ford buddies to tune theirs for 50 or 100 bucks, believe me! 1 month after the purchase of a chip you will feel "HAD" as I did.
moral of the story, don't pay extra MONEY for short cuts, that may not work. learn more about your vehicle and Tune Tune Tune. you have what you need with-in the motor already, release the power that Ford has restricted and you will be much happier with yourself and the vehicle.
Superchips and Diablo both come with a 30 day money back guarantee. If you didn't like your chip, why didn't you return it? As I stated in another thread, not everyone is happy with a chip purchase, (especially if you didn't run premium as required) but that doesn't mean they have to keep the chip. The only reason you should feel had is because you didn't return it.
And something to note, is if you do cam a modern vehicle, you need to reprogram the computer anyways because fuel delivery is based off the computer, not simply vacuum.
