Does anyone know if there's a company that builds superchargers or turbos for the 300 six??? I seen superchargers advertised in the Clifford catalog a while back, but they are no longer in the catalog and I'm wondering if they're available anywhere.

YIKES! Another happy Ford 6er owner on the quest for more power! More power to ya!!!! Well like you I too have been trying to find superchargers and turbochargers for this engine but to no avail; especially if you have Speed Air Density EFI system. If your engine is carburated I say your chances are higher. I haven't been able to find anyone who makes either a SC or TC. Can you imagine the power if you could SC or TC this engine. If there were ever such a thing as wild diesels roaming the plains this engine would definitely be able to run with them if it was SCed or TCed.
I heard that B&M could help in the supercharger situation. I contacted them and they told me to contact the guys at Holley Performance. I'm going to call them tommorow. I'll post the results when I get a chance. Hopefully they know where I can get one. I'm sure the 300 will suit me just perfectly with a blower nestled in beside it, but I'm sure the price tag will put a large delay on the 300 build-up.
If I remember correctly from a previous post,
the name Ak Miller was mentioned. I remember
this name from a long time ago (late 60's on up).
I think it was mentioned that he can supply
complete engines with either superchargers or
turbochargers.

an efi 300 has the 2bbl type throttle body, can't a centrifical supercharger intended for a 5.0 be used, being this motor has the 2 bbl throtle body as well? im sure there have to be some customizing if it will work though.
why cant companies just make a blower for the 300? companies make performance parts for about any ford truck except the ones with sixes, with an acception to clifford and very few other companies.

A belt-driven centrifugal is probably not the way to go on the 300. The engine operates in such a narrow RPM range that the blower would either never come on stream or be way too peaky in its boost charachteristics. A positive displacement blower would be much better as would a properly waste-gated turbo.
It's not the supercharger it's the manifolding and drive assembly which you'd be building from scratch. The blower off a T-Bird 3.8 SC should be a perfect match with a slight adjustment for pulley size. A pair of IHI turbos off a Turbo Coupe should work nicely as well. In both cases, the real work is in fitting it to the engine and reworking the fuel system. If you have a pre-96 with fuel injection, you have a speed/density system which is not at all computer friendly.
There's a company called Hunter Performance Inc. (Dept. FW08, 9144 Spring Branch, Houston, TX 77080 Phone#: 713/461-BLWN) that supposedly has superchargers based on B&M Power Chargers for straight sixes. I read this in a Four Wheeler magazine a couple of months ago and hope that it is helpful.
Thanks Skipper, that's the info I was looking for. I rememebr seeing them in the Clifford catalog a few years back and couldn't remember the company's name. But I remembered they based it on a B&M 'charger. When I contacted B&M they told me to call Holley Performance. So I guess I'll give Hunter a call too.
Quick question, could a person possibly put a turbo on a 1-bbl carburated 300? Or is this infeasable. I was just curious, this has been something I have wanted to for some time now. It is a non-feedback Carter YFA, on a pretty much stock '81 f-150.
I think you'll find Hunter is out of business, at least they were about 6 months ago when I called.
A non-computer carbureted 300 is very turbochargable. You want to get ahold of Ak Miller, he had kits for this engine at one time and may be able to fix you up
With a carbureted engine, aren't you extremely limited in the amount of boost you can run? I thought there was a problem with maintaining vacuum or something.
I'm planning on eventually designing and having fabricated a custom turbo system for my '85 150. I'm gonna try and avoid the speed-density issues by transplanting in a 300 EFI from a '96 F150. I think this would be my best route simply because the original motor has over 115K miles on it (I think without a rebuild). I know it's not cheap, but hey. The things we do for power! Good luck, and let us know what happens with your inquiries.

What kind of boost could a person run on this type of engine.
Correct me if I am wrong, if the boost is more than the vacuum being produced, then you wouldn't really be generating "vacuum". Is this correct? Would this cause positive pressure in the vacuum system, making it impossible to advance the timing? I am somewhat naive on vacuum, is this the way it works? This subject really interests me, and I may not be turbocharging my 300 anytime soon, but in the future I may end up doing it.
