Has anyone replaced the 1157 bulbs with LEDs? The LEDs have the same bayonet connection and can be used in the existing 1157 socket; they are brighter and last longer than the old filament bulbs.
It should be a straight forward replacement but I do not know if they will have any effect on the electrical wiring/fuses.
Thanks.
99% of red led bulbs are useless for 1157 because they look bright on low beam but not on high beam, basically they just threw the same or almost the same intensity for high beam so people won't really tell when you are using the brakes and that's just dangerous. Also the red color takes more power but it's also the least bright color in leds, yellow is weak too on standard and but now brighter on higher end applications. I spent 5 years without providing a bulb that could get the work done right. Technology kept going forward and now we have a very very good led replacement for 1157 red, these are the 80w cree ( they only use 7W of real power btw)
