I am wanting to put a 302 automatic in my 47 1/2 ton. I can get a 92 f150 with a 302 automatic for dirt cheap with a fairly new tranny. Will this transmission fit, I believe it is the e4od? Would it be hard to get rid of the fuel injection? Thanks for the help!
If you want to go carb that is not hard to do, but the e4od is an electronic trans, so you'll need a controller for it.
When you say fit, fit what? The e4od is a big trans, I believe longer than a C6. You will need to have a crossmember built to mount it in your truck, and possibly a little massaging of the cab floor
There is a thread over on the Bullnose section about having stock ecm reprogrammed for electronic trans only control. Stand alone units from the aftermarket can run $1000 to do the same thing. I don't know all the particulars, but you might spend some quality time searching and come up with the info.
An AOD would be non-electronic and still have overdrive. If you get the combo mentioned cheap enough, maybe you could sell of the ecm, efi stuff, and trans to pay for a good used AOD.
