99 F-150 engine trouble

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 99 Ford F-150 with the 4.2 V6. About a month ago, while merging onto the interstate, the engine started power surging. The check engine light came on. Under acceleration the truck felt as if I was punching the gas then brakes. I read the code and it was camshaft positioning sensor. Replaced that and the CEL went off. When the truck is cold, runs good. When hot, it starts to surge again. Changed plug wires, runs smoother but still surges when hot. Now I have a cylinder 3 misfire. Here's the kicker. If it starts surging, I can stop, turn the truck off, start it back up, and runs fine. Then the surges come back 10 mins later. What do you guys recommend me trying. Please help.
