recommendations - methane/water injection kit for 6.4L

Looking for a methane/water injection kit with instructions specific to the 6.4L engine. a lot of kits claim to be vehicle specific and have instructions like "find a 5v map signal..bla..bla..bla" but instruction are no help and if you call the company...they dont know.

in the case of "find a 5v map signal..bla..bla..bla", its not an intuitive hunt...the few wires that are on the MAP connector dont measure 0-5 DC or 0-5 AC, so the signal is not at 0hz or 60hz, which makes a basic multi meter useless in finding the signal source.

thanks for your input.

I went with a simple generic AEM.

Dont have to worry about the 5V singal on this one and dont have to worry about drilling EGT manifold holes.

simple and basic working of boost pressure.

kit will be here today.

out preping the truck for the install

option 1 is to use the existing windsheild washer tank and just add a fitting, out the pump on the floor pax side as far up into the dash as it will go...shouldnt interfere with pax leg room there.

option 2 is to move the drivers side battery to an e-350 battery box mounted to the chasis and use the space where the battery was for the pump and the tank.

should have this installed today

cant pass up up to 20% power increase and up to 200 degrees less exhaust temps, cleaner burn and less emissions.

my list of unresolved 6.4 problems is getting shorter and shorter

well, I did it. does everything claimed. should have done this when I first bought the truck.

injector is after intercooler and before mainifold

boost sense is after turbo and before intercooler

controls are off to the side on the floor for now. I'll probally tie wrap them under the dash somewhere...its a setup and forget system.

the tank and pump are behind the rear seat.

took me about 6 hours.

had some redo work becuase at one point I was going to move the drivers side battery under the chasis in an e-350 box, use the wiper washer tank, and put all the controls and pump in the battery tray....it turned out to be trobble soe did a fall back to plan B.

Nice work. Decades ago I bought a spearco water injection kit for a car I had. It had a module hooked up to manifold vacuum that would kick the water jet on during acceleration. There was a water tank with a little pump in it and that had a line going to a nozzle installed on the top of the air cleaner so it would spray right into the mouth of the carb. It worked pretty good.

This stuff seems to have the most seat of the pants power...maybe due to the cleaner chemicals on top of the methonal.

Water seems to be the highest cooling, but no apparent power plus up, then followed by blue windshield washer fluid which has done power boost, then this stuff

This stuff seems to be a combo of some cooling and some power boost. Less cooling than water or blue washer fluid but more power than washer fluid. But not the seat of the pants feel you get from the bug cleaner washer fluid.

So I found a spot for the controller and can see it from drivers position. The wire loom hides the rainbow color red wires.
Wire loomed the wires that run along the door side and into the engine fuse and battery area
It's ready for the wife and her heels

I was looking for a basic system that just uses boost pressure and did not need connections to the MAF or drilling for egt's. This one does that.

You can start the spray at any where from 1 psi and up.

The only negative is that the end range is 35 psi, so technically if you want all the dots to line up, the range should go past 40psi.

Not sure if 40psi of boost is a real number for a stock truck.

Comes with 3 nozzles and I'm using the smaller one right now.

just found out there is another version of the AEM kit that has a different controller which supports 40PSI boost. it costs 550.

this looks interesting....10 gal out of the way in the truck bed.

199

I think if I can get a couple more gallons behind the rear seat I'll be happy.

Might have to make a custom one.
